Mafalda, drawn and created by the Argentine cartoonist Quino (J.S. Lavado) from 1963 to 1975, and also has appeared in a long-running series of animated cartoons and comic stripes, is familiar to every Latin American, and is well known in Europe and Japan as well. She's even appeared in Australia. Only in the US, for some reason, is she unknown.
The central character is Mafalda (named for a type of pasta). Mafalda is obsessed with the bad shape the world is in; she wants to be a UN translator, and intends to defuse conflicts by translating the insults into statements. She's also a big fan of the Beatles (even if she can't understand the words) and a dutiful if sometimes sarcastic daughter. Her one weakness is soup-- she holds a grudge against the Swiss for having invented instant soup.
Her friends are also distinctive characters. Her oldest friend is Felipe, whose sweet disposition conceals an avid enthusiasm for the Lone Ranger and an incurable aversion to homework.
Her friend Manolito is, at six, the consummate petty businessman, tireless and tiresome in his promotions of his father's grocery store. He's already an expert at publicity (smelling something rotten in the store, he remarks, "I sense this week's special in the air") and at customer relations:
I think Mafalda is a excellent cartoon and comic strip, I love the way Malfada is sarcastic and you always enjoy a cartoon of her, i like that Mafalda show serious conflicts in the world, on all the cartoons there is a situation of what’s happening on the world.
The Simpsons
is an American animated television series created by Matt Groening for the Fox Broadcasting Company. The series is a satirical parody of a working-class American lifestyle epitomized by its family of the same name,[1] which consists of Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie. The show is set in the fictional city of Springfield, and lampoons American culture, society, television and many aspects of the human condition.
The family was conceived by Groening shortly before a pitch for a series of animated shorts with the producer James L. Brooks. Groening created a dysfunctional family and named the characters after members of his own family, substituting Bart for his own name. The shorts became a part of The Tracey Ullman Show on April 19, 1987. After a three-season run, the sketch was developed into a half-hour prime time show and was an early hit for Fox, becoming the first Fox series to land in the Top 30 ratings in a season (1989–1990).
Since its debut on December 17, 1989 the show has broadcast 481 episodes and the twenty-second season started airing on September 26, 2010. The Simpsons Movie, a feature-length film, was released in theaters worldwide on July 26 and July 27, 2007, and grossed US$527 million worldwide.
I don’t like very much the Simpsons because i think is a very vulgar way to express conflicts on the world or serious themes, all though is very comic the cartoon, they touch very important themes and the way that they express them for me its vulgar.
